Filmfare Awards, when introduced by the Filmfare magazine in 1953, were in a miniature form. Later on, with the passing time, they expanded their horizon and assumed the shape of a grand ceremony. The first Fimfare Award for the 'Best Actor in a Supporting Role' was given in the year 1955. The first person to be honored with this award was David (for Boot Polish). Apart from the protagonist, there are a lot of characters in a movie, who altogether help in making it a success. The 'Best Supporting Actor Award' is intended to acknowledge the efforts of actors, apart from the main protagonists.
