Best Animated Feature

Oscars were initiated by Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, with the aim of honoring the talents of Hollywood. The awards ceremony honors people involved in all the aspects of filmmaking. At the time of its commencement, Oscars, a.k.a. Academy Awards, comprised of 12 categories. With time, many new categories were created.
 
It was in the year 2001 that the segment of 'Oscar for Best Animated Feature' award was included in the awards ceremony. It was introduced with the objective of encouraging the people associated with animation industry to increase their production. The movie 'Beauty and the Beast' remains the only animated film till date to be ever nominated for 'Best Picture Award'.
