The Filmfare Awards were kicked off in the year 1954. The awards were first called as ‘The Clares’ after Filmfare critic, Clare Mendonca. The art of managing audio components to achieve a desired effect is known as sound designing. The Best Sound Design award is presented to an artist who provides the best sound effect in a movie. The award was introduced in the year 1955. The inaugural award was bagged by Ishan Ghosh for the film ‘Jeewan Jyoti’.
