Best Orchestral Performance

The Grammy award for Best Orchestral Performance has been awarded from the very first Grammys in 1959. The Recording Academy has changed the name of this category a few times over the decades. It was initially known as Best Classical Performance – Orchestra from 1959 till 1964, in 1965 it was simply Best Performance – Orchestra, over time it changed from Best Classical Orchestral Recording to Best Orchestral Recording and finally Best Orchestral Performance. The award is usually given to the conductor and the orchestra.
