The Star Screen Awards are regarded as one of the biggest and grandest award shows for the season. The awards were kicked off in the year 1994 by Mr. Viveck Goenka of The Indian Express Group. The winners are nominated and selected by a panel of judges within the film industry itself. The ‘Best Male Playback’ award was introduced in 1995 and was first presented to the singer Kumar Sanu for the track ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha’ (1942: A Love Story).
