IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) awards were conceptualized and produced by ‘Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.’ IIFA is also the most respected South Asian film academy. The annual events are watched by more than 600 million viewers around the world. The inaugural event was kicked off by IIFA’s brand ambassador, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan at the “Millennium Dome” in London. Due to controversy about holding that year's ceremony in Sri Lanka, Mr.Bachchan resigned from the post in 2010 and the academy appointed Salman Khan to take charge. IIFA created a platform to celebrate Indian cinema across the globe. The grand IIFA awards are also known as Electrolux Kelvinator IIFA (2002), Kelvinator IIFA and Samsung IIFA (2003-2005).

IIFA’s journey began in the year 2000 at the Millennium Dome in London. Since then, all the events have been hosted at various exotic locales around the world.  The award ceremonies were held in London, Sun City, Johannesburg, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Amsterdam, Yorkshire, Bangkok and Macau. IIFA promises grand and entertainment packed events every year. The ceremonies are held to honor and encourage the creative and technical merit of those connected with the Indian film world. The prestigious IIFA awards are given under 3 categories namely - Popular awards, Special awards and Technical awards.
